This guide provides you with tips to offering sales and promotions.
Importance of sales and promotions:
- Today's online consumers are savvier than ever, combined with the fact that there are so many online buying options than ever before, it's no surprise that it takes some persuasion to convert your sales.
- Offering promotions and special offers to your potential ecommerce customers is an effective method of driving additional traffic to your site, acquiring new customers, and growing revenue.
- These promotions can also be used to encourage new visitors to become loyal and repeat customers.
- Sales promotions can give you the edge you’re looking for when it comes to revenue. These are among the most effective methods of increasing sales and building customer satisfaction.
- While bigger incentives may be more appealing, a small incentive can still make a positive impact on sales and you won’t have to diminish your margins drastically.
Tips for sales and promotions:
- Free Shipping: It’s no secret that all customers love Free shipping! Additional shipping charges mostly lead to cart abandonment. Statistics say that most customers would buy more online from a store offering free shipping.
It’s your call to offer Free Shipping throughout the store or to offer this as a promotion for only a certain time period or only for certain products.
When you mark your product as ‘Free Shipping’, Dufa adds a Free Shipping sticker to your product thumbnail on search pages.
- Percentage based Discounts: Percentage based discounts can be set per Product at any time. Customers love to see discounted values. You can do it for some or all products and offer the best price keeping your margins in mind. If you add a discount for a product, Dufa shows the original price struck out with the discounted price on all the search pages as well as your product pages.
- Freebies: Freebies are a fun way of promoting your store. You can choose to offer Freebies from your store for purchases more than a certain amount or for every purchase. This does not require any setting from within Dufa but make sure you honour the promotion. State clearly on your banners for what products/amount the freebies are available and for what duration, so customers are not in any doubt.
- Bundle up /Cross Sell: Another great way of promotions, is to bundle up some products and offer a discount on that. Create a fun treasure box or gift pack and offer it any discounted prices. Make sure you create a separate product with this bundled package so customers can see the cost of individual items v/s your package.
- Coupon Codes: Currently you cannot set coupon codes from Dufa but we will be adding this feature shortly.
Timing and scheduling your promotions:
- Occasions: The best time to boost your sales is when people is during the shopping season i.e. during occasions such as Mother’s Day, Diwali, Friendship’s day. Run offers for a week or just the day to boost your sales.
- Clearance: If you need to get rid of some older collection of yours, the best way is to offer it at discounted prices or as giveaways. But having too many clearance sales can affect your brand. Limit your clearance sales to 1-2 a year.
- Seasonal Offers: Offering discounts and sales during seasons is also a good way to boost sales. Offer sales during Summer, Monsoons and may be Winters.
- Pre-launch/New collections: To create the buzz around your new product collection, a promotion can go a long way.
Communicating your offers and promotions:
No matter how enticing your offers are, your customers won’t be able to engage with them if you do not communicate your offers to them. To meet your goals and precise targeting, you need to ensure you’ve communicated your promotions on the right channels and platforms for the audience you’re aiming to engage.
Three key areas your promotions should be visible include:
- Your Store Page: Update your store banner to reflect your promotion and offer stating clearly when you are running your offer and what it is about.
- Your social media profiles: Update your Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook accounts to post relevant material about your offers and link them to your Dufa store.
- Emails: Email your customers directly. Additionally, let Dufa know about your promotions so we can email our customer base about your offers.
